Gran Sangre de Toro – Reserva 2001

I’m a big fan of Spanish wines, so it’s no wonder I’m starting this diary with a nice one from Torres, Catalunya.

Gran Sangre de Toro is a mix of Garnacha, Cariñena and Syrah with a good balance of oakiness. It reminds me of good Riojas more than any other Torres wine I’ve tried so far. Beautiful nose, easy going, very nice aftertaste. Spicy blackberries. Had it without food, but I can see it going very well with some stronger meat dishes (beef, lamb). I think it would be perfect with those Spanish lamb stuffed peppers.

Definitely worth drinking again. Consider having for entertaining guests.
